Problem Statement: The number of human beings on the planet has almost doubled in the past 50 years ‒ and so has the global food production. Consequently, the use of pesticides and other chemicals on the crops has increased to balance and satisfy the human population growth rate. This increase in human population is now showing adverse effects on animals, plants and the climate. In terms of climate change, Over 98% of sprayed insecticides and 95% of herbicides reach a destination other than their target species, because they are sprayed or spread across entire agricultural fields. Water stream can carry pesticides into aquatic environments while wind can carry them to other fields, grazing areas, human settlements and undeveloped areas, potentially affecting other species. And polluting air leading to the direct climatic changes. Solution: Implementing the technological ways of solving pests’ issues in agricultural land is always safe when compared to the usage of pesticides. This greatly reduces the risk of humans being exposed to chemicals which causes respiratory syndromes and cancers, it reduces pollution of air and water which are the direct causes for anthropogenic climate changes. The Project ASTRAA concentrates more on repelling and immobilizing the pests by using Electromagnetic Waves, Ultrasonic Sounds and trap chemicals and other techniques. The project is new and is under research and development stages. How does it Effect? These devices are set up in a farm land to eradicate the bugs which are spoiling plants. In turn reducing the usage of chemical Pesticides and insecticides. The features of the project keeps on upgrading during On-field research and development processes. Goal: To Eradicate/reduce the usage of chemical Insecticides/Pesticides. And contribute positive results against Climate changes.
